Please join us in wishing a very happy birthday to Royal Air Force ‘Dambuster’, Sq Ldr George ‘Johnny’ Johnston MBE (pictured far left), who turns 100 years young today! #ww2
Johnny was just 22 when he took part in the 1943 Dambusters Raid (Operation Chastise) on German dams in the Ruhr valley, which involved experimental bouncing bombs. It was his job to target the Sorpe Dam as part of the attack.
